THE MOTHER OF PEARL.

The Mother of Pearl is an immersive dining restaurant shaped by marine mythology and storytelling. Guests enter the world of Aquaria, a mythical mermaid, where shimmering light, oceanic scents, and flowing soundscapes create gentle escapism from everyday life.

The design draws on wave formations and deep-sea textures: wave-like ceilings, iridescent surfaces, and blue hanging tiles that move like fish scales in the breeze. Together, these elements create shifting reflections that echo the play of light on the ocean’s surface. The service counter zone evokes the shoreline, leading guests from “beach” into “ocean,” while subtle shifts in flooring guide movement through arrival, dining, and departure.

By day, the space is soft and dreamlike, offering students and staff a retreat with light bites and teas. By night, lighting deepens, soundscapes evolve, and projection tables animate with visuals, supporting an expanded menu of mains, desserts, and cocktails.

The Mother of Pearl’s mission is to create a dining experience that feels like stepping into a dream, making you forget your worries and quietly transforming your day.

Sustainability considerations:
SDG 14, Life Below Water, calls for protecting our oceans from overfishing, pollution, and climate stress so that marine ecosystems can thrive. It is about restoring balance beneath the waves and ensuring the sea continues to sustain life for generations. The Mother of Pearl dining journey embodies this goal by transforming awareness into action, inviting guests to experience the beauty of the ocean while contributing to its renewal.

At the end of the guest’s journey, each person receives a pearl-shaped token crafted from biodegradable pulp embedded with Leucopogon parviflorus (Coastal Beard-Heath) seeds. On the pearl is a QR code which, when scanned, connects them to the Branch Coral Foundation to adopt a coral fragment and directly support reef restoration. When planted, the token itself decomposes to nurture a native coastal shrub, ensuring that the memory of dinner lives on as new growth both above and below the sea. In this way, a fleeting experience is transformed into a living legacy of renewal and care for our oceans.
